Testimonials

I was meeting friends for a last minute lunch. We normally dine further down the A30 but I found this little gem online and was not disappointed. Gorgeous, hundreds of years old building with genuine and friendly service. A menu that caters for most tastes, including vegans and vegetarians. Dog friendly. Good selection of ales. Friendly patrons. Plenty of parking. Will definitely return.
Probably the best customer service I’ve ever received. We came in for lunch in the middle of a very long drive with my elderly grandmother. I was struggling a bit with her mobility and the staff here went above and beyond to look after her - it went beyond just customer service and into genuine care and compassion. The food was fantastic too, especially the meat at the carvery, and the dessert menu, but the welcome and care I will remember always. The landlord should be very proud of his pub and staff. Thank you.
Visited this pub recently to have a meal with our family. We were greeted with a warm welcome and showed to our table. There was a charity event taking place, but we were served quickly. We tried the new autumn menu. We had fish and chips, lovely crispy batter, golden chips and mushy peas, followed by ice cream sundae. Great quality and taste. This is our local pub and always have a lovely meal. It's a pretty old pub in a lovely part of Devon. Close to A30. Large car park and beer garden. Well worth a visit.
Lovely old pub. Warm welcome very good service and delicious well cooked and presented food. Had the special chicken burger which I can recommend.
Found the KA via a signpost on the A30 heading to Cornwall, popped in for lunch, and all good, friendly staff, good selection of drinks and food. All served quick, hot and tasty. Would pop in again.
Lovely cosy pub, very comfortable room (room 1 not above bar) and such helpful nice people. Very reasonable rates so I could choose the expensive menu option (15.95). People carried my bag as I walk on a stick and that was so helpful. Chatty if you want to chat but discreet if you just want to be quiet. Breakfast also superb ingredients, well cooked.
I came across this place to stay by accident when it was suggested as part of a flight package from Manchester to Exeter airport. What a find! Tom the Manager was amazing and worked really hard and, to cap it off, drove me to work early on both mornings! Where I was actually working was a bit obscure and remote, so that was a huge help and totally appreciated. The room was really tidy and quaint and the evening meals/breakfasts very tasty and of a superb quality. I had a couple of drinks in the bar, late on both evenings, and was met by friendly locals and joined in the conversation. The only thing I regret was that I was that stressed with the work I was doing on both days I didn't really have chance to relax, enjoy and make the most of the surroundings as I spent most of the time catching up/revising in my room. However I'll definitely be back to stay for work or holidays in the future... an amazing place!
